About

Groove First (Little Starlight Records) is a special album that adds to the already rich discography of Lorenzo Feliciati.

The eighth solo album of the Italian bassist is not only a set of songs characterized by intense melodies, atmospheres full of pathos and harmonic richness, engaging and captivating grooves: it is also a tribute to Feliciati’s favorite partner … the drums and the drummers!

Each song is characterized by the presence of a different drummer, from the powerul fusion of Gergo Borlai to the electric jazz of Maxx Furian, from the jazz 2.0 of Daniele Chiantese to the progressive rock of Gianluca Palmieri and the powerful funk of Jason JT Thomas together with the percussions of Martin Verdonk passing through the futuristic drumming of Gianluca Pellerito and the acoustic poetry of Roberto Gualdi and the taste of Niels Voskuil.

The only guest in two songs is the great Pat Mastelotto, a constant companion of Feliciati’s adventures for many years.

In addition to their magic touch on the drums, exceptional musicians who contributed their art to the music of Groove First collaborated on the nine tracks: Richard Hallebeek on guitar in Morning Wow, Davide Aru with his guitar on Next #2 and Aidan Zammit and Gianni Vancini on keyboards and sax on Back where we started.

Alessandro Gwis and his piano with electronics characterize the track Oslo.
On Force Quit we find the Koi horn section of Stan Adams, Duilio Ingrosso and Pierluigi Bastioli.
The album closes with the track Lights with the precious contribution of the
Coro Flowing Chords by Margherita Flore.
A mature and suggestive work that confirms Feliciati’s qualities as a composer, arranger and producer.
