Early Years

Early Years is the new album by Lorenzo Feliciati, the extraordinary and eclectic Italian bassist who has collaborated with some of the biggest names on the international music scene (Pat Mastellotto, Cuong Vu, Eivind Arset, Nils Petter Molvaer), moving around different musical genres, and showing a truly extraordinary versatility. His excellent qualities as a musician are flanked by those of composer, arranger, and eternal experimenter, which have always led his creative streak to the highest level of expression. This new album is a snapshot of his first two works: Upon My Head, and Live At European Bass Day And More. These tracks reflect a moment in Feliciati’s career (2004-2006) that saw him engaged as a...

RUMBLE

RUMBLE marks the return in studio of eclectic Lorenzo Feliciati, one of the greatest bass players in Italy, and rightfully recognized outside his country, due to his collaborations with Bob Mintzer (Yellowjackets) Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson), Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth), Cuong Vu (Pat Metheny Group), Colin Edwin (Porcupine Tree), Steve Jansen (Japan), and Martin Verdonk (Prince, Chaka Khan, Stevie Winwood), and countless Italian artists, just to name a few. RUMBLE takes the shape of a four-track EP, and represents a real musical evolution, compared to Feliciati’s previous works. The roster of musicians is quite impressive and includes drummer Jason JT Thomas (Snarky Puppy, FORQ, Roy Hargrove), taking the role of the...

Elevator Man

As a followup to his most personal project to date, 2015’s KOI, in-demand Italian session bassist and RareNoise recording artist Lorenzo Feliciati has upped the ante on his latest project, Elevator Man. A powerhouse recording with echoes of King Crimson, Allan Holdsworth and other Prog Rock icons in its ten tracks, this latest outing by the prolific bassist-composer-arranger features a rotating cast of stellar musicians, including King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, former Holdsworth drummer Chad Wackerman, Swedish Freak Guitar shredder Mattias IA Eklundh (of the Jonas Hellborg Trio and Art Metal), Italian progressive metal guitarist Marco Sfogli (currently of the legendary Italian Prog Rock band Premiata Forneria Marconi, aka PFM), trumpeter Cuong Vu...

KOI

For his sixth recording for RareNoiseRecords, following his 2011 solo album Frequent Flyer and subsequent collaborations with vocalist-multi-instrumentalist Lef (Berserk!) and Colin Edwin (Twinscapes) as well as two albums with the adventurous jazz-rock band Naked Truth (Shizaru, Ouroboros), the restlessly creative bassist-composer-producer Lorenzo Feliciati followed up by realising his vision in the ambitious and deeply original KOI. A concept album based on the life of the renowned fish, Koi features former Japan drummer Steve Jansen and current King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto along with pianist Alessandro Gwis, trumpeter Angelo Olivieri, saxophonist Nicola Alesini and a horn section consisting of tenor saxophonist Stan Adams, baritone saxophonist Duilio Ingrosso and bass trombonist Pierluigi Bastioli. A suite-like...

Frequent Flyer

Frequent Flyer is the first solo effort for RareNoise by Italian bass (and guitar!) maestro Lorenzo Feliciati, who is also founder of Jazz-Rock ensemble Naked Truth. It documents the peregrinations of a restless and ultra-creative music soul, at ease both when innovating and playing the bass - Jaco Pastorius and beyond - when composing and re-arranging classics of Jazz and Progressive Rock (Footprints by Wayne Shorter and Thela Hun Ginjeet by King Crimson spring to mind) and when organising collaborations of the highest calibre – the list of guests on Frequent Flyer is a who’s who of modern instrumental music, from Bob Mintzer to Pat Mastelotto to Cuong Vu to Roy Powell to...
